Everything Must Go (No, I am not reviewing the Steely Dan album)

If we're gonna send him somewhere, it should be the more horrible, most miserable place on Earth…….. Scottsdale. -South Park, Ep. 1214 "The Ungroundable" Originally a minimalist, short story, only the barebones of film were in place. Most of this movie was written by a screenwriter. Nonetheless, the rest of the story was true to the author and his works. I see this as more of a dramatic piece, than a comedy. Yes, it’s funny in places, and it is definitely funnier than Bewitched. But a dramatic movie needs funny moments. Otherwise, it becomes a complete farce. The protagonist in this movie is comparable to Willy, in The Death of a Salesman. Except this movie does not end tragically: its ending is more bittersweet.

Thor

by Edward Dunn

An epic battle, between good and evil unfolds: the people of Asgard, versus the Frost Giants of Jotunheim. Thor uses his mighty Mjolnir, a giant war hammer He almost wipes out an entire army of Frost Giants. This battle is, by far, the most entertaining part of the film. Watching someone with god-like power, take out the trash, it’s just great fun. Eventually, Odin steps in, preventing the complete massacre of Frost Giants. Because of his arrogance, Thor is stripped of his powers, and sent down to Earth, via a wormhole. He encounters Jane Foster (Portman), an astrophysicist/romantic interest. From this point in the film, you should not get too hung-up on details.

Part 1 of E. Dunn Presents…

by Edward Dunn

Part 1 of E. Dunn Presents: Staples of the 90s Sinbad It’s Just Family It is a reality show. Currently airing on WETV. Tuesdays at 10 pm. I know what your thinking. It’s 2011, the 90s are over. Yes, this show takes place in the present. That is correct. However, the show’s creator, is eternally stuck in 90s at least mentally. I’m just paying homage to one of the greatest comedians of all time. I am catching up on episodes right now. More on this topic, in the not too distant future.

Fast Five

“Chances are sooner or later, we are gonna end up behind bars or buried in a ditch soon. But not today.” - Dominic Toretto Ladies and gentleman, start your engines, and turn off your brain: for the summer movie season is upon us. The quintessential, 21st century action star, possessing that rare trait—universal likability: not unlike that of Tom Hanks or Will Smith. Wrestler, writer, actor, philanthropist and comedian: a true renascence man. This man attempts to breathe fresh life into a decaying franchise.

The Conspirator

...She is a character in the movie Swing Vote. Yes, I actually paid full price to see Swing Vote, when it was playing in theaters. In a movie starring Kevin Costner, I expected a nuanced, in-depth analysis of American democracy. Instead, all I got was a fifth-grade civics lesson; one completely devoid of intellectual rigor and honesty

Mad About You...

by Edward Dunn

Mad About You, Paul Reiser. An unusually lackluster 'Must See' Thursday. The Office and 30 Rock; these two shows were not as good as they typically are. My theory: this is all to make Paul Reiser's new show look better in comparison. They are trying to pull a 'Step by Step': maybe no one will notice how crappy this show is, if we put it between two better shows. It will just slide under the radar for nine seasons.

Coulter Stevens (Gyllenhaal) is an American Army pilot, stationed in Afghanistan. He mysteriously appears aboard a Chicago commuter train. Not as Coulter Stevens, but in the body of a Chicago teacher. He has no recollection of how he got there. Eight minutes later, the train blows up, killing all those aboard. He wakes up disoriented, finding himself strapped in an isolation chamber. Coulter is the guinea pig of a scientific experiment: a sick, perverse experiment, of quantum proportions
